DIY Wedding Decoration: Whimsical Bride & Groom Portrait on Wood-including Video

After being engaged for over 6 Years (say what?!?) we finally decided to take the step-we are finally getting married . . . (and I can hear you say “it is about time!” *lol*) . . . even though we have been engaged for over 6 Years, the decision to finally get married was a more or less spontaneous decision we made 3 weeks ago . . . and our wedding will be on October 22nd-so less than 3 Months from now . . .! Usually it makes a lot of sense to plan a Wedding 9-12 Months ahead-but since in October in Germany it is not “High Wedding Season” anymore we thought it could work-and it does-we got the Date we wanted-October 22nd-we got the Location we wished for-and we got the Photographer we hoped for . . . so I can already check off the most important things . . . well-almost-my Dress will be a different Story-but I do not wanna bore you with that . . . I am sure in the end this will work out as well . . . somehow 😉

Anyways . . . it is gonna be a rather small Wedding-only closest Family & best Friends-it is gonna be a Vintage Style Country Wedding at a beautiful Farm close to where we live. If the Weather allows the Ceremony will take place outside in the Garden, surrounded by Fields & Trees . . . it is one of our favourite Locations around to shoot a Wedding at-so it only came natural that we picked that Location for our own Wedding. I am happy & excited and I hope we will still have some good, sunny Autumn-Weather on October 22nd . . . hold your fingers crossed 🙂

So . . . of course my FAVOURITE Part (by far) about the Wedding Planning is everything that falls into the Decoration-Category . . . I have SO MANY Ideas-I could fill 3 Weddings with them *lol* . . . so I tried to trim it down to my favourite Ideas and of course I will make most of it myself . . . with only a small Number of Guests I can make it all on my own-even the Wedding Invitations will be all handmade with many fun Details (definitely couldn’t do this if we would invite 120 Guests *lol*-otherwhise I would need those 9-12 Months time ahead *lol*) . . .

One of the Signature Elements we will use in our Wedding Decoration will be Wood ( Pieces of Tree Trunks)-we just chopped down 2 large Trees in my Mom’s Yard-those came VERY handy . . . they will be in the Location Deco, the Table Decoration etc.-the Name-Plates for the Guests will be small Wood Plaques with their Names engraved with a burning Tool . . . I totally LOVE that look . . . and the other Day I sat down and wanted to try to paint something on Wood / a Piece of Tree Trunk . . . the Result? A whimsical Portrait of a Bride & Groom (AKA Thomas & Me . . . with LOTS of Imagination *lol*) . . . it was SO FUN to play on wood and I will definitely do this more often in the Future-we still have many many Slices of Wood left *lol* . . . good 🙂
