Today I’ happy to share a magical Project my lovely Guest-Designer Wendy created with my Wild Soul Clearstamps . . . I absolutely adore the “Brave Warrior” Dreamcatcher she created using the Stamps and I LOVE the meaning this one holds for her-being a Brave Warrior herself . . .
Brave Warrior, Kind Heart, Wild Soul or Free Spirit-which one represents you the most at the moment? For me ‘Brave Warrior’ spoke to me loud and clear and I just knew I had to make something really special with this stamp set. I have been fighting Thyroid Cancer for 14 years and currently I still have cancer. My journey has had me reach deep for my inner warrior and be brave and keep fighting, even when I no longer thought I had any fight left in me. The arrival of the ‘Wild Soul’ stamp set encouraged me think long and hard about my cancer journey and I decided in the end that it was finally time to celebrate the strong, brave warrior side of me by making something beautiful. Something I had not given enough thought to over the past 14 years. Something I could look at and it would remind me of my strengths and not the hard parts of my cancer journey.
I love the concept of a dream catcher. The idea of a dream catcher, when it is hung above your bed and over your head, is that it takes your bad dreams in the centre and sprinkles down lovely thoughts or good dreams onto you. Well I thought that was just beautiful and I would love for all my bad cancer dreams to go away and be sprinkled with good ones. This inspired me to incorporate the ‘Wild Soul’ stamp set with a large dream catcher. I love how it is turned out.
Which ever one you are-Brave Warrior, Kind Heart, Wild Soul or Free Spirit-I hope this inspires you to make something special for yourself and celebrate your strengths.
To make the dream catcher I cut 7 Silhouette Studio files #75642 by Lizzie Mayne with my Silhouette Portrait Machine.
I made the file as big as I could, just over 7.5 inches, but if you have a Silhouette Cameo you could make it larger.
If you do not have a Silhouette Machine or digital cutting machine you could make a dream catcher with a wire ring, stamped and dyed silk strips or seam binding ribbon. There are some fantastic DIY tutorials on YouTube if you’d like to make one this way.
I glued the layers together with Arleens Tacky Glue and once the layers were together I coated the whole dream catcher with Collage Pauge before adding lots and lots of layers with acrylic paints, gesso, stamps, Heidi Swapp Shine Sprays and paint splatters.
I have used colours of the Thyroid Cancer Ribbon as inspiration for my dream catcher – Teal, Purple and Pink.
I used one of the feathers in the ‘Wild Soul’ stamp set and water coloured 7 feathers before fussy cutting them out and adding them to the bottom of the ribbons.
I used a variety of water colour pencils, Neocolor 2 water soluble crayons, Gelatos, white paint pen and black pen to colour my girl.
I hope you get inspired to use ‘Wild Soul’ stamp set to create something special for yourself to celebrate the wonderful person that’s you.
