My chosen fairy tale is “Beauty and the Beast”-and I couldn’t be more excited about this, because it is one of my favourite fairytales-it holds so much to talk about and to create some Art inspired by it and the lessons of life it provides. My lesson will be inspired by this fairy tale and I have some fabulous ideas cooking! I have not fully developed my class idea yet, but I am excited to be sharing some of my favourite Watercolor- & Mixed Media Techniques with you, similar to what you can see in these paintings-I created those earlier this Year and they also are fairytale inspired (Can you tell which Stories have inspired those characters? ;o)ReplyCancel

I would love to win a spot! My favorite fairy tale is Maleficent because for once we have a princess who doesn’t need a prince to save her with the power of love. For heavens sake she just met him! It was the love of Maleficent who saved her in the end, not because of her pretty face but because she got to know the person that the princess was through the years, how kind and generous and smart and fun spirited she was…which is so much more than what she looks like. That’s the kind of fairy tale I want my daughters and nieces to watch, so they can feel empowered and more than just something pretty to please a mans eyes.ReplyCancel

  • Kelly Neis4. May 2016 - 12:44

Hi Andrea, I am already on your newsletter because I love your work, also thank you for this oppurtunity to win this class! My favorite is Cinderella and it goes way back to when I was a child in tears watching how hard she struggled to get her prince. The kindness of the animals to help her in every way to have 1 night of dignity and joy which eventually led to Prince Charming, she deserved. I still own the 1960’s version with Lesley AnnWarren, lol I love it.
Have a great day! Hugs KellyReplyCancel

Cinderella!! What an amazing story for inspiration. No matter what is happening we must still survive and live each moment. We must make friends with the birds and the mice. As an art lover, I make something out of nothing, like Cinderella make clothes for her mice. Cinderella always has hopes and dreams. I love fairytales!!!!!!ReplyCancel

  • Evelyn Murphy4. May 2016 - 13:19

Choosing one fairytale is so hard I love them all I think this is why I loved the TV show “Once upon a time” The first 4 seasons of these had me gripped Beauty and the Beast is great. Cinderella is great. Snow White is brilliant, true loves kiss (swoon) I loved “The Snow Queen”. “Alice in Wonderland” is wonderful. You see I love them all. I have been so excited about this course from the time Tam first announced it! The teacher lineup looks amazingly magical. I am a Fairy Godmother . . .(have a subscription based community of wee folk I send anonymous fairy accessories to each month). This course is going to be perfect to enhance my artistic ability and spread more magic fairy sparkles to the letters that go out each month. My favorite Fairy Tale is Alice in Wonderland. I read to my daughter as a toddler, so much that by the time she was 4 she had memorized all of the words. She knew exactly when to turn the page. It appeared as though she could read. Once two women in a waiting room (that had the same copy as we did) overheard her and asked who had taught her how to read. She replied “my Momma”. I am so pleased to find you in this course . . your work is amazing!! I would love to win a spot. Sharing everywhere!!
Magical Fairy Love to All, Fairy Godmother aka Cindy Ford 🙂 🙂 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Marilyn Reitz4. May 2016 - 14:03

  • Sue O'Mullan4. May 2016 - 14:07

It is an extremely hard choice- I like them all for a particular reason – I will start with Beauty and the Beast – and my main reasoning is because you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover and my personal interpretation is via my son – he is 22 and so funny. He is also diagnosed with severe autism and profound mental retardation, seizure disorder, etc. If someone comes over and says hi to everyone except for him – because he doesn’t talk and wouldn’t get it anyway – they aren’t looking at my son as a person – even though he cannot speak nor say hello back (unless prompted to do so) – He likes when someone says hi to him as well – he is a human being! He is rather funny and knows how to make me belly laugh – from my soul!!!!! Most cannot see this because all they see is “autism” and not Danny. I could go on forever with examples – but I think you get my 2cents on why I love this fairy tale!!!!!! Thanks for the chance at a giveaway and I think this course looks absolutely amazing!!!ReplyCancel

  • Linda Flopsy Maher4. May 2016 - 14:10

My favourite is Maleficent… a woman who had everything taken away but rose again.. reclaimed what was rightfully hers and.. well kicked butt! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Felicia Thompson Aaron4. May 2016 - 14:17

My favorite fairtytale character is Merida from Brave – not sure if she counts as a “fairytale” character, but she’s who I love! I love her spirit, her courage and her passion for life! She pushes the envelope a little, but she knows what she wants and seeks after it! You got to love that! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Matt Liu4. May 2016 - 14:19

Beast is my favority fairytail. it reminds me we cannot just rely on people appearance and judge them. People might not look good outside, but has pure good heart inside. we should treat everyone equally, love and respect each other. then the world would become a much better place to live. btw, i love the iconic Rose in the beauty and the beast… Beautifull, fragile, with a hint of saddly romantic feeling… love love love.ReplyCancel

  • Claire Harrison4. May 2016 - 14:22

Snow white & the 7 dwarfs is the one I loved & grew up with as a child but mmm just maybe Alice in Wonderland is topping that now as an adult & of course there is so many spin off movies on TV now that mix them all that brings back neato memories. Alice in Wonderland still tops it as there is so much out there one can use to create art with papers & of course playing cards its a gem of well so many unmade mixed art projects ……………ok head going made with more ideas now 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Lynne Manning Militello4. May 2016 - 14:24

  • Lonny Clouser4. May 2016 - 14:39

  • Tina Marie Hilton4. May 2016 - 14:42

My favorite fairy tale character is hard to pin down. I loved the Little Mermaid for many, many years, but the fact that Elsa (The Snow Queen) is so much more empowering for women because although it is a story of true love, she doesn’t rely on some Prince to make her dreams come true. 🙂 Love that girl power message. Can’t wait to see your Beauty and the Beast!!ReplyCancel

  • Lei4. May 2016 - 14:43

Princess and the Pea is my favorite fairy tale. Rapunzel is running a close second. Thanks for offering the chance to win. The class looks amazing.ReplyCancel

  • Sandy4. May 2016 - 14:48

Oh, I’d love to win a spot! Being raised on fairy tales I’d have to say that as a child I could most easily relate to Cinderella. But maybe that’s because I absolutely loved the Rogers and Hammerstein sixty’s version that came on television once a year! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Amy Phelps McGrath4. May 2016 - 14:49

I love the strength shown by Merida in Brave, but Belle’s love of books combined with her ability to see beyond the surface of the Beast and love him as he is makes her my favorite.ReplyCancel

  • Jami Skolnik Oscherwitz4. May 2016 - 14:52

Hansel & Gretel…..I always wanted a candy house and I love that the kids kill the witch. Went along w/the fear my Nana instilled in me of watching out for kidnappers. She scared me to death with stories of kids being kidnapped!!!ReplyCancel

  • Susan McDonnell4. May 2016 - 14:52

my favorite fairytale is Peter Pan, and my favorite character is Tinker Bell. I love that she is so full of passion, expression, is moody and imperfect, yet she is beautiful and imparts the gift of flight to a place where we never have to grow upReplyCancel

  • Tracy Lynch Hays4. May 2016 - 15:02

As a Special Education Teacher, it is hard to choose just one Fairy Tale. Each of them teaches something to my students, good or bad. However, personally, I would go with Cinderella. She is hard working, selfless and treats all creatures, big and small, with respect.ReplyCancel

  • Kim Smith4. May 2016 - 15:05

Beauty and the Beast is my favorite. I love how Belle is a lover of books (same here! 😉 ). And I love their love story. Looks didn’t matter, only the beautiful person inside the beast mattered to her. I shared on Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. Also signed up for your newsletter! 🙂ReplyCancel

Hi Andrea! I’m so pleased you will be teaching in this class! I’ve taken many of your classes and I have learned SO much from you! Sketch your Life is one of my favorite classes ever and I refer back to it all the time to improve my skills. My favorite character is Belle because she looks past the “ugly” in the Beast to find the gentle and loving side of him. What a world this would be if we all looked for something good in each other.ReplyCancel

  • Fay Wales4. May 2016 - 16:23

My favourable character is little red riding hood. There’s something that attracts me to a journey in a woodland setting. The striking symbolism of the Cape. The innocence of youth combined with the cunning sly wolf. So much symbolism, fantasy and darkness in the daily journey. My second would possibly be the little mermaid… who wouldn’t want to be a mermaid! Well she didn’t but that’s not the point lolReplyCancel

  • Ellie4. May 2016 - 16:27

My favorite has always been Cinderella. When I was eight I my Mom gave me a Cinderella watch for my birthday and it was the best EVER! I grew up loving her wonderful dresses and those sparkly crystal shoes….swoon. Of course, in the Disney version, the mice and birds that helped her were just fantastic. I often wish I had those helpers in my sewing room!ReplyCancel

Tweeted! Hmmm, my favorite fairytale would be The Emperor’s New Clothes, because I think even today the premise holds true: people are too quick to follow the flock. It takes a strong person to stand up and point out the fact that the emperor is naked …ReplyCancel

Mulan, not sure if she counts as a fairy tale as much as a Chinese legend. She becomes a great warrior out of determination and sheer will. She is very courageous. I have needed these qualities in my life. It’s great to find encouragement !ReplyCancel

  • Marcie Aspras4. May 2016 - 17:55

My favorite fairy tale is Sleeping Beauty. I was convinced as a child that the ladies taking care of her were my great-aunts – my Aunt Ada, Aunt Margaret & Aunt Blanche. Interestingly, I never thought I was Sleeping Beauty. I was so proud that someone had written a book about my great-aunts!!! I still think of them when I pick up that book!!ReplyCancel

My favorite fairytale is Princess and the Pea. I love how she’s only proven to be a Princess because she had such a bad nights sleep on a pea. I’m a very light sleeper myself, and the littlest noise or discomfort seem to wake me up, so my husband is always calling me his Princess and the Pea, LOLReplyCancel

My favorite is The Little Mermaid because as a kid the Hans Christian Anderdon book I had was missing the last pages so I had to make up my own ending.ReplyCancel

  • Stephanie Moody Pedersen5. May 2016 - 01:44

To be honest, the fairy tales I grew up with were pretty stressful for a kid, lol. Snow White almost being killed, Cinderella having to do her stepsisters’ and stepmother’s bidding and being locked in her room, Pinochio leaving Geppetto and having to find his way home…but at least they ended well. =DReplyCancel

Years ago, my son and I visited a Disney Adventure Park where we got to see illustrators at work… Amazing! There was a game to see which Disney character you were most like and mine was Belle from Beauty and the Beast! No, for real, although there are times I feel more like Ursula from The Little Mermaid! Belle loves books and loves to read. She has a good heart and cares for others… Yep, that’s me! Love the EverAfter concept but with recent unemployment, I simply can’t justify another expense right now. I appreciate the opportunity of possibly winning a spot in this exciting online course. Thank you! Warmly, CarlaReplyCancel

A favorite fairy tale, they are all great! If I have to choose one, it would be rapunzel a la tangled. I liked the way she was represented in the movie, sassy and able to take care of herself (even though she didn’t know it at first). Also liked that she and Flynn had a chance to get to know each other and fall in love… It wasn’t “love at first sight”.ReplyCancel

Hi Andrea, I am so excited about this workshop and can’t wait to see your take on Beauty and the Beast. I love fairy tales and it’s hard to pick a favourite….. So Rapunzel (for the hair), Cinderella (for the dress and those SHOES) and Snow White (for the Alabaster Skin) lol, nah just joking. I love them all, I love the morals and the fact that they I still the sense need for kindness, love, open mindedness, courage and a strong sense of self. Also I love that regardless of the trials if you hold steadfast to who you are and your beliefs “good” will always triumph. I think we need more of that in our society….. Geese off my soapbox now…that got a bit serious sorry! Lol. Anyway will share to Facebook and Instagram under @chasing_lilies and Natasha Daly and I alreDy subscribe to your blog. Thanks for the chance to win a place. ReplyCancel

I love fairytales very much, I have 3 children, so I read lot of tales every day. My Mom said when I was children (40 xears ago) I regret the Witch in Snowhite tale. I have a 100 years old book continuing the tale, which called “Snowwhite become mother” it is really interesting she had 2 children and they were stolen …. So I would be a lucky princess to win a free spot. Only the prince is missing.ReplyCancel

My favorite fairy tales are Beauty and the Beast and Rapunzel. Beauty and the Beast because I am a happily hopeless romantic – I never tire of this story no matter how many versions of it I encounter. I not entirely sure why I am so drawn to Rapunzel (the original, not Disney). Rapunzel has a terrible childhood and grows into a strong woman, but there’s more to it than that…ReplyCancel

Once upon a time, there was a poor schoolteacher who loved fairy tales so much that she once taught a fairytale themed literature class to a bunch of teenagers! She loved exploring the themes, variations, and history behind those types of stories. When she had a daughter, she made sure to share with her every single fairytale that she could think of- even the Brothers Grimm anthology, which is pretty dark at times!! For the past few years, this schoolteacher has rediscovered her love of drawing, painting, and creating mixed media pieces- she’s even taken a class from Andrea Gomoll herself (Art Journeying- LOVED IT!!!!), and has been wanting (for quite some time) to sign up for one of Ms. Laporte’s and Ms. Davenport’s as well. When she discovered that all THREE of these artists (along with several others, who all also look extremely talented) would be participating in a fairytale tale themed course, she was more excited by that news than she’d have been if her fairy godmother suddenly showed up granting wishes! In fact, she doesn’t think she’ll even be able to wait until July!!! Yep, that’s me…if anyone is still reading this ridiculously long post! I’ve been signed up for your newsletter, but I did just get a new email address so I re-signed up and shared! Thanks for offering the giveaway and for all that you do- I absolutely adore your art, and I cannot wait until July!!!! So excited!ReplyCancel
