One of my Goals or Resolutions for 2014 when it comes to Art is to play & experiment more-to make artsy stuff more often “without a purpose” other than having fun and exploring . . . but I know myself and my life and I know, that I will not be able to commit to huge projects at any time during the year, since I know once the busy wedding-season will start again there will not be as much time for art as right now in the “low season” where I only do Studio-Shootings . . .!
AND . . . I mentioned that a couple of times before-I just LOVE to sketch & doodle on old Bookpages . . . usually that’s what I am doing while talking on the phone-so I thought it would be fun to combine this-to play & have some fun each day on a Bookpage . . .! Nothing fancy, no big techniques, just freeing my mind for a couple of minutes every Day and just sketching, doodling and exploring ideas . . .! That’s doable on most Days I think-even on the busy days . . .!
Why Bookpages you might think? Of course a plain sheet of Pager would do as well but I kind of feel drawn to Bookpages and to doodle & sketch on them . . . I do not know-there are already words on there and it feels less intimidating than to start on a blank page . . . it is more fun for me-sometimes even the words on the Page give me a theme or an idea of what I want to draw or sketch . . . and I just love the look of a doodle on a word printed Background . . .!
So I grabbed this old dictionary I got at a fleamarket for 50 Cent and started to tear out the Pages-I lay down a very thin Layer of white Gesson on the Page (enough to prep the surface a little and to mute the black words a little but so it is still shining trough)-prepared a bunch of them and now have them lying here with a black Pen and some Markers for my Daily Bookpage Sketch . . .! So far it is super fun 🙂
I share them on a daily Base on my Instagram Account and think I will do a weekly digest here on the Blog . . .! Over on Instagram a couple of People joined me already and they play along-so if you like the idea as well feel free to jump right in-no pressure and no need to do it every Day (I know myself-I will not keep it up each & every day either . . . )-but it is sure a good thing to just loosen up and explore & jot down ideas . . . you could even journal on the Pages along the sketch and this way create some sort of visual diary . . .!
I plan on binding them all in the End of 2014 . . . let#s see how many Pages my “Book of 2014” will have in the End . . . sure enough not 365 but hopefully still many many pages 🙂
So here are the Pages of Week 1-2014 . . . hope you will enjoy them . . .
Love them.
Liebe Andrea,
Habs gut!
Liebe Grüsse
Bili
Oh my! I love your pages. Wonderful start!
I also love to use old book pages. It’s almost the base of all my pages on my art journal…
