Daniel Smith Watercolors – my Top 10 Colors + free Swatch Sheet Download

One of the most asked Question over the last Weeks was the Question about my favourite Colors by Daniel Smith or which Colors I would suggest to start with. So I decided to share my favourite Colors, the Colors I do not want to be without, with you and I did set up my own personal Top Ten Daniel Smith Pallette. In the Video I share about my favourite Colors, why I picked them and some more useful Information for Beginners on how to use the Watercolors from the Tube etc. , . . so I hope you will enjoy the Video and it is useful for you . . .

Picking just a few (and the right Colors) is not easy and seems like an unmanageable task especially for Beginners . . . Daniel Smith provides this awesome Color Chart with small Samples of each Color they have in their Range . . . that really helps to pick your own, personal favourites . . . so if you can get your hands on them, I would definitely suggest to get them . . . you will refer back to them whenever you want to purchase new Colors to expand your Palette, plus it helps to keep track of the Colors you already own.

My Top Ten (plus 2) Watercolor Palette

So . . . my personal Favourites Palette using Daniel Smith Watercolors would consist of the folowing Colors: New Gamboge Yellow, Quinacridone Sienna, Rhodonite Genuine, Quinacridone Magenta, Imperial Purple, French Ultramarine, Phtalo Blue, Mayan Dark Blue, Sap Green, Hematite Burnt Scarlet Genuine, Bloodstone and Lunar Black

Bloodstone Genuine and Lunar Black are two highly granulating Watercolors from Daniel Smith . . . they give you a stunning Effect on the Paper which you can (and should) definitely take Advantage of (think of Stone and Rock Texture, Ground Texture, Moon Texture etc.)
Even though a large Palette with different beautiful Colors is fun, always keep in mind that you do not actually really NEED all those Colors . . . as the Example shows, you just need very few basic Colors and create a large Variety of Shades yourself by mixing the few Colors you have. This Way you also learn a lot about your Colors and Color Theory . . .

Free Swatch Sheet Download

You can download an unbranded Version of the Swatch Sheet I use / created and start whatching your own favourite Watercolors . . . just ! If you use them and share the Results on Social Media like Instagram, please use the Hashtag #cre8tiveswatchparty so we all can check them out and create a fun Pool of different Watercolor Swatches.

The link to download takes to Mailchimp which is a marketing platform. What she is really doing is collecting emails to spam later, just come out and say it instead of offering free Color Charts. Its NOT free, we are paying her with our emails and information. Yeah, not happening, you can keep your color charts. Thanks. ReplyCancel

Honey, of course – guess what – this is a BUSINESS I‘m running here and of course when I put time and effort into something that I share free of charge it is absolutely okey to ask for something in return (in this case allowing me to send an email with my offers every now & then) – however – it is so absolutely fine with me if that’s not okey with you – after all it sounds like you wouldn’t be a good potential customer match for me anyways – you can simply move on and find another place you feel good at & about …! I‘m really feeling sorry for you – you must have had some bad experience in the past with providing your email address somewhere … hope you’ll get over it at a certain point so you don’t miss out on all those wonderful free offers that I and sooooo many wonderful Artists share with the world in exchange for a simple email Address to create a creative Community & Connection ReplyCancel
